A story

I read a story in news paper, which goes like this.
There is a old lady in a home and she want to join a oldage home. She stays with her younger son. So, elder son and younger son tries to convince her asking that Why she is thinking so even they are taking care of her somuch. Her daughter-in-law also never said anything which hurts her. And, she also take care of her. So, then the story tells how her day starts. She wakes up in the morning and do pooja for some time. And, then she tries to switch on TV to watch some spiritual programs. She tries to change the channel. But, as her eye sight is not very good and her hands are shaking, she increases volume in the attempt of changing channel. Her grand son comes with disturbed mood and says "Why you are keeping so much volume and disturbing my sleep" and then he keeps the channel which she wants and go back to sleep. She watches that one and then she goes to balcony and sit beside her son and says "Do you know how Krishna born. This program is explaining it very well..etc..". Then, her son says "Mom, let me read news paper please". Then, her daughter-in-law come and give coffee to her, then she tries to tell the samething to her. Then, her daughter-in-law says "I don't have time to listen all these now. I have to prepare breakfast and lunch. And, your grand son is not up yet. I have to wake him up and make him get ready.". Then, her grand daughter comes and ask her to do some thing for her. Then, this old lady asks the same thing to her. Then she says "Yeah. I know Him. I heard that He born in jail. Too sad. ". Then, her mom comes and tell her to get ready soon and go to school, otherwise, it gets late. In this way, every one is busy in her home and she don't have any one to share her feelings, her memories, etc. She has everything. But, her children are so busy that they didn't have time to talk to her and spend time with her.

A very true situation. I used to think that one shouldn't bring office work to home and vice versa. But, in s/w engineering life, It is very difficult to achieve.

Yes, even i have read this article in Eenadu sunday magazine,

but i dont think it about bringing
office work to home, its all about our busy schedules..iam very sure that even if we really want to spend time with family, your cant do it on weekdays..So make sure that u spend enough time on weekends..that makes them feel happy and they will also try to understand your time constraints.

It might not seem polite but the fact remains that this loneliness on the part of not so young people is a result of their not changing with times. In this particular incident, I could not see how her son/daughter in law and grandchildren could have behaved differently. When you are working full time and busy with your schedule, you dont have time for anybody during working days.Ideally, in this situation, parents should keep themselves busy..and there are myriad ways to do so even if they are not working. It will help them to deal with their loneliness and be more active.
