Thoughts

I am seeing beggars these days with a small child in their hands. If they come to me and ask for money, I don't give money and I just get angry on that. Sometimes, I feel whether we can take all these children and keep them in an orphanage so that atleast they have basic education so that they can stand on their own feet rather becoming robbers or beggars or what ever anti social persons. I feel it is better to give food or education to a person than contributing that money in poojas and all. After all telugu quote says "Manava seve Madhava seva" (Serving to people is serving to God).

I don't know why our beloved politicians never think of this. And they want to exploit the cast-ism. None of the parties gave any statement against reservation in IITs or IIMs. And now, suddenly, BJP president L.K.Advani says they are still thinking of building RAM Temple in Ayodhya. And our beloved PM says they want to do something for Muslims and he feels they should be allowed to first claim on resources. My suggestion to a Muslim or a Hindu is only one. Don't go blindly with these politicians. They know British rule very well which is "Divide and Rule" and so they are implementing that on us. I don't mind much about whether to have a masjid or temple in Ayodhya.

Some thing that we can do:

Respect each other
Give basic education to your children. If not able to, don't give birth to them.

And the quote I have seen today:
Help ever, Hurt never
Love all, Serve all
- Sai Baba

I believe core of evry problem in our country is politics, its their negligence towards primary education created so many illiterates who finally become social menaces, but at the same time change has to come from the people who give more importance to money and religion, politicians are jst extension to us.

Hi Radha,
But there so many girls who are abused and adicted to drugs. If they get a chance they are ready to support antisocial forces.
They hv equal rights, reservations doesnt help them, its the govt which has to take care of them

Why angry?

I dont like throwing 1 Re coin in their hands and running out. Also there is no point of paying attention on providing education etc. etc unless there is no food to eat. May be you can provide _a_ good meal if possible clothing and some good words. Atleast your concern and thoughts may be fruitfull upto that extent. If time and heart permits you can go beyond that.

BTW, Happy new year !!

Hi Srinivas,
I disagree with you in two points.
1. Education is must for every person. It is their illiteracy that is being exploited by others and so they are living as beggers or what ever. It is the core problem which every country should solve.
2. Never support beggers by giving money atleast if they are young to work hard. If the person is very old and don't have stamina to work or a child, I prefer to give food or money to him/her. The situation that I saw is a lady with 4 to 5 months child and begging for money. She is just using that child as an instrument. I don't know whether the child is her own or she kidnapped from some where.
I respect those people who work hard. Recently, few times,I saw a lady who is a labour got into the bus with a small child in her lap in the evening after her work. I respect her. I gave a small space to her to sit. I felt like giving some food to that small child. But, I wonder whether she allows me to give money. I would prefer to help such people when they are in need because they are working hard rather begging.

I still feel in the quote
"Apatradaanam cheyyaradu". Never help the person who do not deserve.

Thanks and Wish you a happy new year.

Hi Radha,
I agree with you in some points. They may get angry if you ask them to change their life style suddenly. But may be, if we can change their life style slowly in the way that they may not know even that their life style is changing. Then there might be some improvement?.
We don't need to think of why they are in this situation until unless it is needed to change that situation. The only thing needed is, there should be a change in every one, rightly said by sirishkumar.

Ofcourse, it is very easy to say. I even wonder sometimes, I am thinking so much, but whether I can practice a bit of it. Hope I follow few of them.

Hey Pallavi, looks like you think too much about yourself. (Just to set you off the hook of rational thinking and get emotional about my comments)
Dont worry about the beggars in Bangalore, they are just doing it as a hobby, more like your pet project. They have a society and they live a happy life. Look they often have kids, that should have hinted you they do have a family and life behind the scenes of begging in front of you. To them you would look so stupid not to live a life by begging and doing all hard things to earn money. Think of it, if you get easy money why would you want to work? Self respect? They anyway get self respect within their family and community. Then why should? May be you should make begging a crime and arrest them. They would stop begging. Thats the way to go. So now, don't think too much you might sprain your brain :) - The anonymous coward. Do mail me, I am in chennai :)
